About Island Solidarity
The Island Solidarity Community Cooperative cultivates a community of activism and organizing across the Island. We are a member-based network of members including community groups, individual organizers, and donors who believe that our collective power is the foundation for radical change towards an equitable future and away from capitalism, colonialism, and systemic oppressions.
Launching in September 2018, a group of experienced (and close to burnt out) activists saw the need for a more collaborative process that would support the diversity and breadth of activism that was happening in our communities. We envisioned a support network where we could dedicate our energy to the causes that we were passionate and involved in, and know that there would be a foundation for our activism to be sustained locally.
Through long discussions, we came to realize that it was important we create a network that both supported the diversity of causes in our communities, and at the same time found common values that would bring us together in our efforts at creating a better world.
